Abstract
Authors studied prosthetic valve function and postoperative cardiac function in 3 patients who
underwent mitral tissue valve replacement in 2 patients and a combined mitral tissue valve and
aortic ball valve replacement in 1 patient. The examination of echocardiogram, phonocardiogram, kinetocardiogram and systolic time interval were carried out and the results are as follows;
1. In phonocardiogram there was a loud, high frequency opening click and closing click sound in aortic area and AO/AC amplitude ratio was 0.9 in the case of combined aortic ball valve and mitral tissue valve replacement. These findings were indicative of normal ball valve function. The phonocardiogram in mitral area were within normal limit in 3 cases of mitral tissue valve replacement.
2. In systolic time interval the value of LVET, PEP, PEP/LVET were normal in all 3 cases. The QS1 A2-OACG intervals were within normal limits in cases of mitral tissue valve replacement but were decreased in case of combined aortic and mitral valve replacement.
3. In echocardiogram, the suture rings, anterior and posterior stentes and valve motions were well observed. The C-E amplitude, LVET, SEE, MSEV, MDEV, VCF, stroke volume and ejection fraction here measured. The mitral tissue valve motion and left ventricular function were normal in 2 cases of mitral tissue valve replacement but in case of combined aortic and mitral valve replacement, the C-E amplitude SEE, MSEV, MDEV, VCF, ejection fraction were decreased, and suggested myocardial dysfunction and that of mitral tissue valve.
4. Echocardiogram, systolic time interval, KCG, PCG are considered to be useful non-invasive method to evaluate the patient with artificial cardiac valve replacement.
